Tea the beverage of choice!

Tea is one of life’s great pleasures. Enjoyed without milk or sugar; it has no calories and it is a tasty way to increase your fluid intake during the day. Tea contains two to three times less caffeine than coffee and provides your body with essential nutrients that help prevent cancer and heart disease. Escape today’s hectic pace with a nourishing cup of premium quality Darjeeling Assam or Nilgiri tea.

The World’s Finest Teas

DARJEELING
Nestled in the foothills of the snow covered Himalayan range. Darjeeling, grows this exclusive tea at altitudes ranging from 600 to 2000 meters. The cool and moist climate, the soil, the rainfall and the sloping terrain combine to give Darjeeling its exquisite muscatel flavour (the grapey taste that makes it so popular). Darjeeling is one of the most sought after teas in the world because it can not be grown or replicated anywhere else and it accounts for less than 1% of all tea harvested worldwide. Dargeeling is to tea, what champagne is to wine.

ASSAM
The Assam region is located to the far northeast of India along the Burmese border. This is the land of the one-horned rhino, the land through which the mighty river Brahmaputra winds its majestic course. Assam is rich with nature’s bounty and a rainfall ranging from 200 to 300 cms - a bounty that ensures a very special place for the teas grown here.

NILGIRI
The Blue Mountains or the Nilgiris are situated in southern India. A picturesque range of undulating hilly landscapes where tea is grown at elevations ranging from 1000 meters to above 2500 meters and rainfall varies from 100 to 600 cms. These conditions favour the fine flavour and brisk liquor of Nilgiri teas. This combination of fragrance and briskness makes Nilgiri a truly unique tea found nowhere else in the world

Is tea good for me?

Not only is tea soothing and delicious, but it is healthy too. In fact, the American Health Foundation recommends that you consume 5 - 6 cups daily because ...

Tea
- contains one-third the caffeine of coffee or cola
- helps reduce fatigue
- maintains mental alertness
- stabilizes fluid levels
- is fat free and calorie free

The antioxidants in tea help prevent ... cancers of the mouth, stomach, pancreas, lungs, esophagus, colon, breast, and prostrate.

The antioxidants in a single cup of tea equal those in one serving of vegetables.

Tea’s flavanoids help prevent heart disease by
- reducing blood clotting
- lowering blood pressure
- lowering cholesterol

A study conducted by Harvard University researchers found that those who consumed one or more cups of black tea per day had more than a 40 percent lower risk of having a heart attack compared to non-tea drinkers.

Tea is a rare source of natural fluoride which inhibits growth of oral bacteria and enzymes responsible for dental plaque.

Tea is also a rich source of manganese, necessary for healthy bones, and of potassium which regulates the heatbeat.

Other valuable vitamins and minerals found in tea include ... vitamins B1, B2, B6, folic acids, and calcium.

'Eating Well Magazine' named tea “Beverage of the Year” for its health benefits and mass appeal to consumers searching for an alternative to soft drinks and coffee.

So is tea good for you? You bet it is!

And tea is one of the least expensive beverages available today ... costing just pennies per cup.

Lose yourself in its charm
Relax with a cup of steaming, fragrant tea, “the tea drinker ... is forced to choose between the mediocre and the vile.” It’s now wonder. Grocery store tea, already lower in grade, is blend to create a consistent but far from satisfying flavour.

Why settle for the mediocre when the exceptional is within reach?

From the renowned growing regions of India we bring you ...

Not All Tea is Created Equal

India's Tea Board strictly monitors all exports, ensuring that only the finest teas leave the country. No wonder India is the world's largest producer and exporter of tea.

Our Darjeeling, Assam, and Nilgiri bear the Tea Board's distinctive logos and includes the world's finest Black, Oolong and Green Teas.

Black Tea's fully fermented leaves provide strong, dark tea liquor.

Oolong Tea leaves are given a shorter time to oxidize or semi-ferment.

Green Tea leaves are dried without oxidizing or fermenting.

Tea can be broken or leaf.

Broken grades are smaller or broken leaf particles.

The smallest particles, called Dust, are typically used in tea bags.

Liquor from the rare Leaf Grade teas is smoother, lighter, and milder than that of broken grades.

Only 20% of tea is Leaf Grade, from the larger tea leaves.

We specialize in the superior Leaf Grade tea.
